A leading producer and marketer of specialty chemicals. 
The Process Engineer will work with production and management staff to understand, improve, and provide insight into our production processes and the biological wastewater treatment system. They will utilize their skills and expertise to improve the safety, environmental, and quality performance of their assigned processes, and will interact with production staff to identify and implement continuous improvement ideas and processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide process engineering expertise to plant operations and strategic initiatives. This includes process optimization, raw material and energy efficiency tracking and utilization improvements, project support and process control support.
  • Become proficient in the biological wastewater treatment system in order to identify and implement improved processes and process control.
  • Identify and provide justification for capital expenditures in support of process improvements. Perform project management activities and facilitate the implementation of capital projects in process areas.
  • Maintain and update Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives including procedures, process safety information, P&IDs, MOCs, and PHAs.
  • Provide process support as needed to front-line production supervision. 
  • Ensure safe processes, work conditions, and behaviors through active leadership in Health, Safety, and Environment.
  • Work with Quality and front-line production to resolve process issues and provide technical solutions as needed.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience as a process engineer in a chemical manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with and knowledge of reaction, distillation, crystallization, separation, and biological wastewater treatment technologies.
  • Experience in Process Safety Management
  • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that allow the individual to achieve buy-in, build trust, teach and mentor.
  • Must be comfortable working with all levels of an organization from front-line staff to plant management.
  • Must have the communication and facilitation skills to lead groups in the various problem solving techniques.
  • Experience in multi-tasking, prioritizing complex issues and managing multiple projects.
